2017 Mazda BT-50

2017 Mazda BT-50

The 2017 Mazda BT-50 will be the first successor to the recently facelifted version of this popular pickup truck. In that regard, don’t expect it to offer any dramatic changes compared to the 2016 model that arrived with a slew of upgrades. The latest visual alterations are aimed to keep the BT-50 more competitive in the struggle with the likes of the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi L200, Volkswagen Amarok and Isuzu D-Max. Since the model hasn’t received any substantial updates ever since its launch in 2010, these changes should definitely help Mazda’s pickup truck to stay relevant until the whole new generation makes its debut.

Design and Features

The 2017 Mazda BT-50 will once again be available in single-cab, freestyle-cab and double-cab configurations, with XT, XTR and GT trim levels. After the recent facelift, Mazda’s pickup truck features a more mature look compared to its predecessor. Expect the Mazda BT-50 2017  to arrive with the same new grille, light clusters and bumpers offered by the 2016 model. Some of the new features responsible for its sleeker appearance include new taillights that come with dark red lenses and without any chrome accents. The BT-50 will also be available with new alloy wheels, while the XTR and GT trims offer tubular side steps. Unlike the old model that featured a grinning front fascia, the refreshed version boasts a more elegant styling with a horizontal theme.

Some of the optional equipment includes a satellite navigation system equipped with HEMA off-road maps. In addition to that, the facelifted model boasts a more comfortable cabin with improved materials.

 Engine Range

The new BT-50 will continue to use the same engine range offered by the previous models. The 3.2-liter five-cylinder turbodiesel generates 147 kW at 3000 rpm and 470 Nm of torque from 1750 rpm to 2500 rpm. Its power will be transmitted to the wheels through either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox. As for the 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel unit, it will be available exclusively with the 4×2 BT-50 models. This unit will be making 110 kW and 375 Nm of torque.
