2016 Chevrolet Silverado Redesign

Chevrolet Silverado is a full size pickup truck, first launched in 1998. Known for its heavy duty performances, it can take head on the likes of Ford F-150 and Dodge Ram 1500 in terms of both performance and design. The new 2016 Chevrolet Silverado Redesign will receive mostly cosmetic upgrades, with few changes made to engine and transmission; upgraded cabin will be available in order to provide a better driving experience.

Design Modifications

The new 2016 Chevrolet Silverado Redesign features a more masculine appearance by virtue of its new sculpted hood, characteristic headlight designs, daytime running LED lights, new front bumpers, dual horizontal chrome plated air intake grilles, redesigned fog lights, and new tail lamps. Larger wheel arches and a straight body line too add to the imposing look. The lighting effect can be described as dramatic, which has helped the Silverado to register the title of fastest growing pickup (full size) brand in terms of sales.

The interiors will be updated than current models; a central console studded with upgraded infotainment system, advanced car controls, etc. will add to a better driving experience. The redesigned cabin will be more spacious than current models, thus offering more passenger comfort levels. The rear cargo space will remain same as that of current models.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado Diesel

The current models of 2016 Chevrolet Silverado are available in a wide range of power train choices, from LV3 EcoTec3 4.3 liter V6 to LML Duramax 6.6 liter V8. The new models will be powered by a 4.3 liter EcoTec3 V6 diesel unit, which can produce about 285 horsepower and 414 Nm torque. Two other engine options will also be available: a diesel unit having a displacement of 5.3 liters and capable of generating 355 horsepower and 519 Nm of torque; another being the 6.2 liter unit churning out 420 horsepower and 610 Nm of torque. Apart from the diesel units, CNG and gasoline units will be also be available.

These engine specifications allow the Chevrolet Silverado to produce a much more towing capacity, estimated to be around 5443 kilograms.

Transmission Systems

The current third generation models feature two transmission systems: a 6L80 6 speed automatic transmission and an 8 speed 8L90 automatic transmission. The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado new model will possibly be equipped with General Motor’s 8L90 8 speed automatic transmission.

2016 Silverado Upgraded Features

According to the marketing director for Chevy trucks, Sandor Piszar said, “The redesigned 2016 Silverado will build on Chevy Trucks’ legacy of dependability’. Additional features will include a new state of the art upgraded Chevy MyLink infotainment system comprising of a color touch-screen user interface; navigation, entertainment and contact apps. About 140 channels of commercial free music, sports, and talk-entertainment can be accessed with Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Siri Eyes Free functionality is also available for iPhone users.

Apart from these, the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado truck will also be equipped with GM standard safety features like electronic stability control, traction control system, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution to name a few.
