2016 Shelby Raptor Baja 700

Shelby is due to launch its most powerful truck ever. The 2016 Shelby Raptor Baja 700 will actually come as a tuned version of an already high-performance Shelby Raptor truck. Thanks to the 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger combined with Ford’s 6.2-liter V8, Shelby managed to boost its power output from 411 horsepower to incredible 700+ ponies. In addition to the power upgrade, the Baja 700 gets several notable enhancements as well as certain exterior and interior tweaks.

2016 Shelby Raptor Baja 700 Design

The 2016 Shelby Raptor Baja 700 will be visually different from an ordinary Raptor thanks to a number of styling cues. Instead of the usual bumper, it comes with a tube frame that carries an LED lightbar. It also gets new 18-inch wheels fitted with BFGoodrich’s KO2 All-Terrain tires. At the rear side, the regular bumper is replaced by a custom-made steel unit with integrated LED light pods and stainless steel rivets. Sitting beneath the bumper, expect to see chrome dual-exhaust pipes. Shelby’s latest Raptor edition comes with a unique blue exterior color and two white racing stripes.

As mentioned earlier, the 2016 Shelby Raptor Baja 700 owns its stunning power output mostly to the 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger combined with the familiar 6.2-liter V8. In order to achieve the increase of 289 hp, Shelby’s engineers have matched this supercharger to high-flow fuel injectors, a larger throttle body, a heavy-duty heat exchanger and a Borla exhaust system. Although we still haven’t got official data on the torque numbers, we believe the tuned engine now delivers at least 580 pound-feet of twist. This amazing power is transmitted to either two or all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. However, the upgrades don’t end there. The Baja 700’s suspension has been upgraded with King shock absorbers, steering linkage and stronger A-arms.

2016 Shelby Raptor Baja 700 Price

It’s interesting to note that Shelby plans to build just 50 of the Baja 700s. That being said, its rather high pricing figures don’t come as much of a surprise. Expect the 2016 Shelby Raptor Baja 700 to start at $45,000, which almost doubles the price of a regular model.
