El Camino was a single cabin, twin door utility (or pickup) vehicle launched by Chevrolet in 1959. Since then the brand has been through five generations of re-launches and withdrawals. Now regarded as an American classic, the El Camino brand is definitely a car which has an appeal for utility vehicle lovers. The 2017 Chevy El Camino is going to be a much awaited car, since rumors have been in the air long enough on re-launch of this vehicle.
2017 Chevy El Camino Design Specs
Chevrolet has claimed that the new El Camino would be of futuristic design and would appeal to young and old alike. The 1980s models were based on Chevrolet X frame Girder design chassis with full coil suspension. The new car will be based on a revamped wagon chassis. Like the older models, a hydraulic grille will be attached to absorb any extra cargo on the trunk. The car will feature a redesigned front air intake grille, modified front and rear bumpers and advanced air intake system. The rear end has also been redesigned to offer extra cargo space. The car will ride on a large 117 inch wheelbase.
The new car has a larger cockpit which can accommodate up to 5 adults. Premium leather seats, dashboard adorned with latest infotainment, safety features, etc. are the standard offerings to be made.
The first generation models produced 170 horsepower (1959 hottest power train combination yielded about 319 horsepower); second generation models had a maximum power output of 300 horsepower. The fifth generation models were available in a wide variety of engine choices: 3.3 liter V6, 3.8 liter V6, 4.3 liter V6, 4.4 liter V8, 5.0 liter V8 and 5.7 liter V8. The 2016 model’s engine specifications have not been clearly specified. However, sources say the drive train of 2016 model will be partially related to the 3.3 liter V6 engine which can produce about 195 horsepower.
The 2016 concept Chevy El Camino was unveiled with two engine options: a 3.2 liter V6 capable of producing 300 horsepower, and a 6 liter V8, churning out a maximum of 360 horsepower.
The 2017 Chevy El Camino car will be fitted with latest technological advancements such as 8 speed manual transmission. In addition to gearbox, the high tech engine will also be coupled with a 3 speed alternate turbo hydraulic system.
No official statements about fuel economy of the engine have been made. The announcements will be made prior to launch.
To make the 2017 Chevy El Camino appealing to younger generations, trim levels have been named as Super Spot or 2017 Chevy El Camino SS, Royal Knight and Black Knight. State of the art installations such as latest touch screen interface, audio streaming, cruise control, temperature control, USB charger functionality and USB functionality will be installed. Power steering with control buttons on steering wheel, power windows which can be operated individually by window side passengers will be available.

There is a great deal of rumors about probable launch date. The new 2017 Chevy El Camino will probably be launched by end of 2016. A price range of $20,000-$30,000 is expected.
