Ford has recently presented the facelifted Ranger pickup truck at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Apart from receiving new styling tweaks, enhanced interior and new safety systems, Ford’s pickup introduced a more efficient engine range. In that sense, expect the 2017 Ford Ranger Diesel to use these latest updates to rival the likes of the VW Amarok, Isuzu D-MAX and Mazda BT-50. It’s interesting to note that Ford’s pickup truck is becoming increasingly popular on the European market which is traditionally not very keen on this type of vehicle. With its enhanced and more efficient engine range, the 2017 Ranger should definitely continue to expand its presence on the global markets.

2017 Ford Ranger Diesel Engine Options

The greatest improvement under the hood of the Ranger truck comes with improved fuel efficiency of its diesel engine range. The tweaked 3.2-liter Duratorq five-cylinder unit now boasts an 18 per cent increase in efficiency, while generating 200 horsepower. The less powerful 2.2-liter received similar enhancements and it produces 160 hp. As for the entry-level Rangers, they will be powered by the unit that makes 130 hp, with its fuel consumption cut down by 22 per cent. These improvements come as a result of the new electric power steering system, longer gear ratios as well as standard start/stop system. Ford’s engineers have also retuned suspension and improved sound insulation inside the facelifted Ranger.

After the latest redesign, the Ranger pickup boasts a sleeker exterior styling on both the front and rear ends. The 2017 Ford Ranger Diesel features a new trapezoidal grille and sharper headlights, while the back side gets brand new tail-lights. As for the interior, it comes with a number of significant improvements that make this truck a much more comfortable place to be. The new cabin comes replete with high-quality materials and latest technology. Expect the facelifted Ranger to offer Ford’s new Sync 2 infotainment system that comes with an eight-inch touchscreen. As for the safety and driver assist features, there will be adaptive cruise control, front and rear park assist, lane keeping assist and hill-descent control. The 2017 Ranger will also come with a 240-volt power socket.

According to unnamed sources, the 2017 Ford Ranger Diesel is very likely to hit global markets in mid-2016.
