2017 GMC Canyon Denali Debut

Two years after the GMC Canyon along with its Chevy Colorado sibling were reintroduced, the company plans to launch the first premium version of a mid-size pickup truck. According to official sources, the 2017 GMC Canyon Denali is slated to hit the showrooms in late 2016. Rumors about the range-topping trim level have been around ever since the Canyon was first announced for the 2015 model year. The wait is finally over and the Canyon Denali is expected to offer all those high-end features that go with this premium trim. Apart from a number of unique exterior styling cues, expect this model to arrive with a slew of interior upgrades and new amenities.

Design and Features

The 2017 GMC Canyon Denali will be available as a crew cab only, with both two- and four-wheel drive configurations to choose between. Just like other Denali models, this one is also expected to come with the recognizable mesh front grille that bears large GMC lettering. Alongside the HID headlights with LED daytime running ligts, the Canyon Denali will feature a considerable amount of chrome accents on its door handles, mirror caps, bumpers, exhaust tip and side steps. Of course, expect to see ultra-bright, 20-inch alloy wheels similar to those offered by other Denali models.

Inside, this high-end Canyon boasts perforated leather and front seats equipped with heating and cooling systems. The features that set it apart from the standard model include a new instrument panel, a unique center stack as well as a number of Denali logos throughout the cabin. In addition to these sleek styling cues, the new GMC Canyon Denali will be replete with the latest technological amenities. There will be GMC IntelliLink infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen, OnStar 4G LTE Connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration and remote engine start. As for the safety features, expect to find such driver assist systems as Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Alert.

2017 GMC Canyon Denali Engine Specs

The entry-level version of the GMC Canyon Denali 2017 will be powered by a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 305 horsepower 269 pound-feet of torque. This unit enables the Canyon to tow up to 7,000 pounds, with a payload capacity of 1,590 pounds. Those who opt for extra towing abilities will probably choose the new 2.8-liter Duramax four-cylinder turbodiesel. This capable engine generates 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque that allow the vehicle to tow up to 7,700 pounds. Both engines come paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Official pricing details for the 2017 GMC Canyon Denali have yet to be released. However, we expect this range-topping version to start at about $42,000.
