2017 Nissan Titan XD V8 Gasoline Price

After releasing the next-generation Titan XD pickup truck for 2016, Nissan is bringing a thoroughly upgraded gas-powered V8 engine into the mix for the 2017 model year. So, the enhanced version of the V8 gasoline unit is now ready to join the Cummins V8 diesel that launched the second generation of the Titan XD. The heavier-duty XD variant of this full-size truck comes as part of the company’s strategy to find a “white space” niche in this hotly contested segment. Namely, the 2017 Nissan Titan XD V8 Gasoline is aimed primarily at those buyers who need something more robust than a standard ½-ton truck but not as beefy as a 3/4-ton. Compared to the diesel-powered version, the new gas Titan XD will be quicker and significantly less expensive.

Like its predecessor, the 2017 Nissan Titan XD V8 Gasoline will be powered by the 5.6-liter V8 Endurance engine produced at Nissan’s plant in Decherd, Tennessee. Although it retains the same displacement as the previous version, this mighty V8 is basically an all-new engine. It features a power increase from 317 to 390 horsepower, while the torque is up from 385 to 401 pound-feet. The engine is also paired with a new seven-speed automatic transmission that conveys the power to the rear or all four wheels. All-wheel drive models receive a new transfer case as well. Although the half-ton Titan will feature the same engine and output numbers, the Titan XD’s towing and hauling capabilities will be much higher thanks to a tougher chassis and frame.

2017 Titan XD V8 Features

The 2017 Nissan Titan XD V8 Gasoline will be 800 pounds lighter than its diesel counterpart, which increases its payload capacity. This is mostly due to the lack of heavy components that go with a diesel powertrain. Those include the Cummins’ iron block, heavy pistons, the turbocharger, DEF tank with 50 pounds of fluid, as well as the heavier Aisin HD transmission. On the other hand, the gas-powered Titan XD offers a towing rating that drops by 1,000 pounds. As for the suspension and brakes, the only enhancement comes with slightly tuned springs and dampers. When it comes to the fuel economy, the Titan XD V8 Gasoline lags behind the Cummins V8 model by 3-4 mpg on average.

The 2017 Nissan Titan XD V8 Gasoline is expected to start at $36,500 which is $5,000 less than a diesel-powered version. It will also be less costly than the Ford F-150 XL SuperCrew with a V8 gasoline engine.
