RAM’s Heavy Duty line of trucks has been known for impressive towing abilities and class-leading torque numbers. In that regard, expect the 2017 RAM 3500 to retain its current status, with several minor upgrades to distinguish it from the previous model. Thanks to the recent updates, the RAM 3500 is able to tow an amazing 31,210 pounds. In addition to that, the company claims that the diesel-powered version of this truck boasts the highest torque numbers ever to be offered in a mass-produced vehicle.
2017 RAM 3500 Design
As for the base models, the 2017 RAM 3500 is rumored to offer a slightly enhanced interior. Thus far, the entry-level versions have been lagging behind the competition when it comes to the standard equipment. While the current model offers only basic cloth seats and a small 4-inch display, the upcoming variant is expected to arrive with upgraded materials as well as a new infotainment system similar to those found in other trucks in this class. Now, luxury RAM 3500 Limited already boasts some of the most appealing exterior and interior features you can currently find in this segment. What sets it apart from the regular versions is its revised front grille adorned with a bevy of chrome accents. Inside the cabin, expect to see leather upholstery, contrast stitching, wood inserts as well as silver pin striping.
The 2017 RAM 3500 is due to arrive with unchanged engine options under its hood. The base models will be powered by the well-known 5.7-liter Hemi V8 making 383 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Those who opt for more powerful gasoline units should go for the 6.4-liter V8 that churns out 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. Of course, the most capable models will come with the 6.7-liter turbocharged Cummins diesel V6 engine with two different power outputs. The less powerful variant produces 350 hp and 660 lb-ft, while the recently updated unit churns out 385 hp and stunning 900 lb-ft of twist.
