For the 2017 model year, Ford’s Super Duty is due to receive the most substantial set of changes since its debut back in 1999. In other words, expect the 2017 Ford F-550 Chassis Cab to come as a completely redesigned model together with the rest of the lineup. As part of the latest makeover, the F-550 gets a bevy of significant upgrades that include the revolutionary aluminum-intensive body. Although many weren’t expecting Ford to use the same lightweight architecture applied in the F-150, the brand new Super Duty will actually come much lighter than its predecessor. Moreover, it will be underpinned by a chassis that is stronger and more resistant than the old one made of steel. In order to increase its payload capacity, Ford’s engineers have given the F-550 thicker aluminum components in key areas. Compared to the standard F-150, the Super Duty body features 14 percent more aluminum. The 2017 Ford F-550 is expected to hit the market in late 2016.
2017 Ford F-550 Exterior and Interior Design
When it comes to exterior styling, the 2017 Ford F-550 will differ from the F-150 truck thanks to a number of features. The most notable ones include the front fascia with restyled headlights, hood, fenders and beds that will be unique to the Super Duty. The new fender vents will feature a vertically oriented model name set against a black background, which is a completely new concept as far as Ford’s truck range is concerned. The upcoming F-550 will also be offered with some sleek features such as Ford’s Tough Bed spray-in liner, the new BoxLink storage and cleat system, as well as LED bed lighting system. Thanks to the all-new body, the Super Duty will benefit from six additional inches of cab length that should give it a more spacious and comfortable cabin. The 2017 F-550 will share the same dashboard with its half-ton brother but it will add several unique storage solutions. Expect also the new generation to come loaded with Ford’s latest technology.
